Some pundits think Obama’s
through promoting bipartisanship.
I hope so, but he seems obsessed
with the idea of “getting along”
in The Audacity of Hope.

He thinks red and blue make
purple, but one being water
and the other oil, they make sludge.
That fouls the wings of his stimulus
plan and may keep it from flying.

Instead of courting congressional
adversaries directly, the president
should go to their constituents
with educational rallies to promote
his programs and legislation.

For a togetherness spirit, he can
invite Republican incumbents
to come along to be introduced,
with their Democratic opponents,
and see what the crowds think.
