McCain said Clinton received short shrift
from Obama, so he wanted a running mate
to help him attract her supporters. He thinks
all that matters is picking a woman.
He’s not concerned that Alaska governor
Sarah Palin is an ultraconservative right winger,
anti-choice, and interested in the oil industry,
but notes she won the Miss Wasilla beauty pageant.

Pundits say Hillary should vouch
for Barack’s readiness to be president,
but she can’t because it isn’t true
She does make it clear Obama wants
to be a good leader, while McCain
promises to be as bad as Bush.
Isn’t that enough? Surely the hope
for progress is better for the country
than the assurance of continued disaster.

Joe might make the best
running mate, but Hillary
could have become veep.
