Let’s Not Accept Halfway Measures
The ISG and the Pentagon seem to think
this improves Iraqi readiness, but is it
worth the price? What do we get for putting
thousands of troops at risk for years to come?
The motivation seems to be saving face ―
leaving without admitting we have lost,
hoping trainers and advisors can buy enough
time for history to say the Iraqis were at fault.
Democrats should demand a timetable for a
complete redeployment, and let Iraq and its
neighbors know when it will be their problem.
Admit we lost. Everyone knows it but Bush.
