If there was ever any doubt
about Donald Rumsfeld’s sanity
it should be dispelled. He’s warning
us about moral and intellectual
confusion about the war in Iraq.

He’s comparing a war of choice
to a war for survival, a disparate
bunch of insurgents to Hitler’s army.
He’s as believable as a carnival
barker hawking a freak show.

The only possible rationale for
keeping Rummy around might be
the administration thinking the
Secretary’s blather makes
Bush’s bluster sound reasonable.

Sec. Rumsfeld is correct, and is the best aspect of the Bush Adminstration.

The invasion of Iraq was a question of when. Our allies made it an urgent issue by taking bribes to abandon economic sactions against Iraq.

I would have preferred that we invade first Iran, as the chief state sponsor of terrorism. However, Iraq was a state sponsor of terrorism and therefore a legitimate target in the War on Terror.

Any free nation, such as the United States, has the moral authority to attack and overthrow any dictatorship with the only question being is it in the free nation’s interest to do so. That is a choice, and a legitimate and moral choice.

I don’t agree that we have the moral authority to attack anyone unless they represent an imminent threat to us or an ally. Bush repeating bogus charges against Iraq over an over again doesn’t make them true.

If we had never gone into Iraq Saddam might well be gone by now, but if he wasn’t that country and the world would both be better off.
