Once Burned, Twice Shy

Bush and Cheney both seem shocked
someone leaked the fact they were
secretly searching bank records, and
newspapers wrote about it even when
the administration asked them not to.

They told the papers the program was
legal, important and saving lives,
assured them safeguards were in place
to protect the privacy of Americans, but
no one believed them – imagine that!
