Standards

Like children on a scavenger hunt,
scrambling to win a prize, the administration
searches for tidbits from the attack on Iraq:

More voters than expected,
Lebanon demands Syrians leave,
Israel and Palestine cut their kill rate.

The Bush team beams brighter than
a fisherman who bought a $200,000 boat,
and caught three bass big enough to keep.

I love the analogy of the 3 bass. This is my favorite so far (but I’m not reading them in order). This is a really tight poem, it works really well.

The world is but a wasteland.
The skulls of past existance, lay strewn across a baron, desolate sea of death.
The richness of life, that once flowed with hope, now lay dormant for the death of time.
Our children that once were the future, now is past existance of man’s mockery of life.
Our children will be buried alive with distrust and anger.
Life is God’s gift to humanity, why must it be rejected for exchange
    for hatred and life’s blood.
“So let it be written by man himself.
